My angels Gingham Nails

Double post for you guys tonight...arnt i good to you?! Now my beautiful daughter has featured on my blog several times now, and to be honest she will be gracing your screens much more.  She is the perfect model to work on, she has amazing nails...and she is only 12 years old!!!

Tomorrow we are off out to London with 2 special friends so me and lucy did the only thing girlies can do at a time like this and prepared early.

Lucy asked me to do a gingham esque manicure for her and this my friends is what i come up with.

Although it wasn't what we were going to do, i think this turned out pretty cool!!  For the base colour i used China Glaze Dandy Lyin Around, the blue lines were created with Jade Cremoso Aiga Marinha and the darker blue was OPI Eurso Euro.

What do you think...?

  3. I think it looks like the mani done on Chalkboard Nails on 10/19/12 at http://www.chalkboardnails.com/2012/10/costume-nails-dorothy-from-wizard-of-oz.html. GMTA? Lucy's nails are very nice, especially for a 12-y.o. It does look like her left hand has two nails that are much shorter than the rest and the middle nail on that hand looks like it needs some filing to get a better oval tip but it may just look like that due to camera angle. Oh, just FYI, it should be "Lucy and I," not "me and Lucy." Thanks for sharing the post!

    1. hello Delphi my lovely, wow what a compliment that my daughters nails could be even mentioned in the same sentence as the amazing chalkboard nails mani, she is amazing! me and my daughter (my daughter and I) went shopping today so she wanted a mani that matched her outfit....these are pretty standard gingham nails so not much internet searching was needed to create these. As for the nails being shorter on one hand with her only being 12 years old she will inevitably come across a break or two...thankfully she has very strong nails that grow uber quick like her mama so she will have them all grown out in no time LOL. As for the grammer, well I like to speak to my readers as would do in every day life. Thanks for stopping by!

    2. Lol Delphie...these are the nails of a 12 year old girl, hardly modelling for some big hot shot company lol. I personally would love for my daughter to have lovely nails like this, but mine prefers to chew hers! And mimi i thought blue and white chequered was standard for a gingham design! Excellent and a faultless design as per usual, i ALWAYS look forward to reading your blog and admiring your pictures, as well as your affectionate grammar!

    5. Delphi, you acted like what you said was helping Mimi and it looked like you were being nice while saying all this rude stuff to her 12 year old baby! Most girls that age don't even have nails that length. I don't cut all my nails down because one broke. I might trim them a little but I just let that nail catch up to the other ones. I'm a 32 year old woman and would love to have her nails. Who cares if they aren't perfect. I don't see anywhere on any nail blogs about having perfect nail size. I have never seen any one comment rudely in any blogs that I follow.

    6. thank you lovely zachy, I always appreciate constructive advice as you know, but being only a little girl she isn't as mindful of taking care of her nails like we would. And zachy I have seen your nails on your blog and they are beautiful...long or short. Thank you my lovely xxxxx

    7. Hey there Delphi--I'm hoping you meant to be nice and just came off a little odd--we all have bad days, for sure. In that spirit I thought you might find it interesting to know that while the technically correct way to write this grammatically is 'my daughter and I', the accepted colloquial form in many parts of the country is 'me and my daughter'. In fact, this can be an in-group marker in many cases and as such would be read as an informal way of speaking to friends; in some cases 'my daughter and I' might even be seen as an overly formal marker in a friendly medium like this. Part of my degree and research is in the acquisition of conventional language, and I'd love to talk more with you about the subject if it interests you; I love the intricacies of language and discussing what constitutes acceptable use of different forms in different situations. :)

And mimi, beautiful mani, and I'm deeply envious of those nails!! :)

    8. ahhhh thank you so much for that michelle, I would love to have you teach me a few things about grammer hehe! I like to talk to my readers as I would do my friends so being overly formal is not my thing. Thank you for the compliment on lucys manicure and her nais, I truly appreciate it xxxx

  6. Beautiful mani, Mimi. Your daughter has beautiful nails, when I was 12 I was so into polish but I would never have had the patience to let them grow that long! Ignore grammar nazis, anyone who could leave such thinly veiled digs on a blog post about a 12-year-old needs to be seriously pitied and needs to take a good hard look at themselves. Seriously. Pish.
