OPI Wizard Of Oz... BIG.FAIL!!

I bring you sad news my angels...Opi have a collection I am not crazy about.  Usually OPI can do no wrong in my book, with the release of the Mariah Carey liquid sands and the awesome Euro collection  when I heard about the Oz collection my mind sprung with ideas of a bright vivid colours.  I mean the wizard of oz is packed full of colour, the emerald city, yellow brick road, ruby slippers...colourful munchkins....the good witch and her beautiful pink dress......even to the extreme of the wicked witch could have made its way into one of the colours...but none here I am afraid.

All of the crèmes here are something I have seen already, mostly in the ballet collection.  None of them grabbed my attention so I skipped them...opting for what I thought held a little something different about them.  Here are my pics and what I made of them.

What Wizadry is this? I overlooked that there was a liquid sand in this collection and this is the only one that I felt could save this collection.  I loved the colour of this, although I lacks the same sparkle as the first liquids, this does have a pretty shimmer.  It is a pretty brown and gold shade that dries matte.  I used 2 coats for these shots, I prob could have done with 3.  I found the dry time on this was quite good.  My complaint about this one is that it wasn't nearly as textured as the other sands...and if I am going for a textured look, I want full on texture, not half measure as this one feels.

I did add a top coat to see how it transforms...wow, to me it is like another polish.  With a TC it has so many dimensions and depth to this polish with the shimmer really showing through.  I defo don't own anything like this one in my stash, so I reckon this one is a winner one one hand.

When monkeys fly.  OHHHHH I wish I could write something different here.  I picked this up knowing nothing about the issues others have had with it.  I looked at it and thought this for sure was different and I wanted to feature it on here for you guys....never would I dream I would write something negative.  I will say this first.  OPI had the makings of a great polish here...it is different and quirky and I liked the combo of the larger glitters and smaller ones....in the bottle it was something to behold.  On the nail.....absolute poop!  The glitters curled and curled and curled some more.  I HATE anything that sticks out on the nail...without me wanting it to stick out that is.  The larger glitter curled right out meaning that even with top coat on it still felt scratchy  and messy...not good OPI! I cant help but muse to myself what kind of backlash an indie seller would get if they churned out polish as bad as this one.  I guess I am disappointed with OPI because clearly I am not the only blogger who has had this issue...so sort it out!

I added a side view...can you see how they stick out? this is WITH a TC!

Lights of emerald city.  This is my favourite of the glitters.  It is very different to what I have seen OPI do.  It is packed full of matte white glitter and smaller pastel iridescent glitter.  I layered this over nails inc royal botanical gardens.  I am not sure I picked the right layering colour to be honest as I couldn't really capture the pastel colours well on my camera.  Application was ok...ish it is quite thick in consistency.  I had to go back and dab some of the white on...not a big deal though.

So to sum up you wont be surprised to know I was hugely disappointed with the 3 colours I picked.  Yes the liquid sand was nice, I would have liked it to offer more texture but it was kinda saved by the colour it turned into with a topcoat.  I would NEVER use when monkeys fly again..big let down.  Lights of emerald city was a saver.  So has my love affair with Opi ended after this collection....NO NO NO, have you guys seen the new bond liquids?!  I forgive you OPI...just this once!

  3. Yea... after seeing the Oz movie yesterday and knowing of this collection - all the problems with the taco polish - and all the boring colors they've picked - I just kept seeing things like; wow, they should've made a polish of that or this! I've no idea who was the one who had put this collection of non-creativeness together (and then even poorly executed while at it!)... but that person should be fired!
