Military support mani, R.I.P Lee Rigby

Not many things these days surprise me, sad as it seems, evil seems to lurk our streets, and there seems to be a minority that is intent on bringing as much harm and destruction to innocent lives as possible.  It was said in the news, September 11th was the day the world changed forever and I truly believe that is no exaggeration.

Before that awful day the only time I ever saw such destruction was on a Bruce Willis movie, now I look at those movies with a different eye...it isn't enjoyment watching those scenes, as it is far to real now.  from that day on stories of foiled terror plots are common place and I thank god every time one is just that...foiled.  Thanks to our brave and heroic armed forces, we can sleep safe in our beds at night.

On May 22nd terror struck again, resulting in the loss of a truly remarkable young man called Lee Rigby.  He was slaughtered on the streets of London in broad daylight.....all for what appears to be because he was a soldier.  To hear the horrific details was to much for me to listen to, it made me feel sick.

I have decided to do this manicure in support of our fabulous armed forces, here in the UK and far afield.  I send my heartfelt love and support to the Rigby family and only hope somehow they will find the strength to move forward, as I'm sure Lee would have wanted.  We are very fortunate here to have the brave young men and woman who risk everything everyday to keep us and our families safe....never have I felt so proud of them and our country that unites in such tragic times.

Tonight I will hug my daughter tighter and give thanks for having my family safe.  R.I.P Lee Rigby and to all the many other brave fighters who died to keep US safe. xxxx

Disney Challenge Ariel

Omg guys, I am so sorry for my missing posts on this challenge...yes I know, it is only 2 but I always feel gutted when life takes hold and I cant devote the time and effort to it.  My hubby hurt his back and we spent, like all day at the hospital, which is why I wasn't able to do the last 2.  But I am back, and with a movie I loved!! Yep Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

I decided to do some cute fish scales in different colours and of course little Ariel herself.

Hope you guys like this and I will see you soon for the next instalment!

surfs up tropical mani

Hey guys! how are we all today? So tonight I had a little play around with my paints as I needed something to occupy my mind....my little girl (well she is 12 now and taller than me!) is having her first proper sleep over tonight...naturally I'm a little at odds as to what to do.....so my nails took a pounding!

I saw some really cool wave nails over at confessions of a polishaholic so I decided I must give them a try....here we have it!

I love these, it reminds me I am off on my own holidays in 13 weeks (I'm not counting lol) I simply cant wait to feel the Mexican sun and surf, so these are right up my alley!

I am 2 challenges behind with the Disney we are doing, I will try my best to catch up soon! stay safe my angels xxxxx

Love/hate Butter London Fiddlesticks and Coco Allure Like Totally Pink

Hello my lovely readers, how are we all today? I am hoping to make your day a smidge better by showing you a few posts I have for you guys today, including this one....Butter London Fiddlesticks with a topping of Coco Allure Like totally pink.

butter london fiddlesticks coc allure like totally pink. pink gitter

Now then, I have a problem....I give myself credit here because my pictures turned out much better than I thought....howeeeeeever urgh the Butter London was a bitch to apply....not easy and smooth at all, like you would expect for an expensive polish!

Fiddlesticks has been a lemming of mine since I saw it way back last year on another blog...I wanted it so bad but there has always been another polish I have had to have so this has taken a back seat.  That was until the other day I was browsing around TK MAXX and saw this along with the matching lip gloss in a set and I thought now was the time to add this to my stash.  I first put this on my mum and wasn't blown away by the formula, but the colour looked amazing on her so I thought I would wear it secondly.

I found the neck of the bottle had accumulated extra polish and had already dried (not great really when I have only used it once before earlier that day!) to top it off the polish just didn't want to apply smoothly, it felt either if I didn't have enough on the brush it run out of steam or it felt like I had to much which in turn felt gloopy...there was no happy inbetween for me I'm afraid.  It also took an age to dry.

That said I do love the colour which is a deep burgundy with flashes of fuchsia glitter.  I decided to add some Coco Allure Like Totally Pink to give it some va va voom and yep, it did that perfectly! I will be doing a further post on the lovely LTP but I love the way it adds extra depth to this polish really showcasing the purple glitter in LTP!

I used 2 coats of fiddlesticks and 1 coat on Like Totally Pink.

I hope you guys found this helpful....stay tuned for more!

Disney Challenge...Mulan....hmmm

Argggh why oh why cant every day be the same...art wise i mean? yesterdays Gothic snow white was so cool because it came together so well, i LOVED doing that.  Today, i decided to opt for mulan in a traditional sense because to be honest i ha vent seen the film so i don't know the character very well at all.

From the pics i found on the Internet my mulan doesn't look Chinese enough for my liking, super damn!

I decided to do some newspaper nails to, using Chinese newspaper, that looked kinda cool and i liked that a lot....

So there we have it...a not Chinese looking enough Mulan, check out the other ladies taking part!

Ever wanted longer hair without extensions.....check out Guest blogger Chetana!

Hey loves! I am here with a very special post today from the lovely Chetana at Stylecraze.com I thought it would be nice to have a little something different on the blog, so here she is...love this post!

How to Get Long Hair without Extensions?
Here’s a unique technique to make your hair look longer without the use of extensions. Do a ponytail. Stand in front of a mirror and take 3 hair ties. Now brush all of your hair so that there are no tangles. Use a smoothing serum if you have very unruly tangles and use a large toothed comb to gently untangle them. Then comb your hair. Now if you have bangs or shorter hair at the front, leave them out of the pony tail.

Don’t be surprised!  Yes, we are asking you to tie your hair up to get long hair. Keep reading to find out how it works!

Use a tail comb/fingers to make three horizontal layers at the back of your hair. Use a scrunchy to hold them in place. First take the top section of your hair and roll it into a bun and use a scrunchy to hold it. Then move on to the hair just below it, use a scrunchy to hold that section too. Now take the remaining lower section of your hair and make it into a bun and use a scrunchy.

Now first take the topmost layer. Smooth out any hair and then use a hair tie to tie it in a high ponytail. Do keep in mind that you do not need the ponytail to be super tight. Now take the middle
section and use a hair tie(similar to the hair colour) to make it into a ponytail. Adjust the position so that it is just below the topmost ponytail.
Now take the last part of hair at the bottom and use a hair tie to tie to hair into a ponytail. Also adjust its position so that it looks like the continuation of the topmost ponytail. Now take two strands of hair from the topmost ponytail and use bobby pins to tie them at the bottom ponytail.
Brush the whole ponytail again and you can see that the hair length has increased considerably.

Gothic horror Disney Snow White

Hello my darlings!  I am a little late with this manicure and the reason is because i wanted to step right out the box and do something totally different for this challenge.

I LOVE Disney and i adore the Snow White movie so much.  I always thought Snow White was a little bit of a minx....i mean the girlie took herself off and shacked up with 7 strangers...all men, so yep, me thinks Snow White has a slightly naughty and darker side.

That's exact;y the side i thought i would showcase today, a Gothic, dark side!  I was a little unsure on whether i should play around with such a classic but i actually really loved doing this, and considering i didn't copy any pic off the Internet or anything for reference i think these didn't turn out to shabby!

So do you like the gothic bad ass Snow White, dripping blood? I hope you do my lovelies! cccc

Swatch review Models Own Splash Collection

Hello my lovelies!  I hope this Saturday finds you well and happy!  I have been itching to get my hands on the new Models Own Splash Collection and yesterday whilst at Bluewater Shopping Centre i finally had the chance to get them, and they are on offer at the minute 3 4 2, so i got the whole collection for £20...plus a cheeky scented polish thrown in for good measure!

now i will warn, this is a bit of a pic fest post as i thought i would show you guys the whole collection.  For those who wanted to know, these are indeed flakies...there was a little confusion as to weather these were glitters or flakies...well hope that helps.  So here we go..i will try and keep my waffling to a minimum!

First up is Pink Paradise.  This is a loaded polish filled with  chunky flakies that flash purple, and corally pink.  I used 1 coat over Enchanted Disco Barbie.

Golden Shore.  As with all of these polishes they contain the same kind of rough jagged shards of glitter.  The flakies in these are indeed golden.  I used 1 coat over OPI In my back pocket.

Aqua Splash.  Again, the same shards of flakies is what makes this polish up.  The flakies in this flash silver, golden and aqua.  I used 1 coat over Nails Inc   Kensington Park Road.

Red Sea.  Unlike the others in this collection the base of this is much more coloured.  The flakies in this flash red and purple.  I used 1 coat over Essie Snap Happy.

Mermaid Tears.  The flakies in this one were definately larger cut than the rest of the collection...still in keeping with the rough jagged look,  the flakies flash aqua.  I used 1 coat over Models Own Pukka Purple.

For fun i decided to show you these layered over a black to show you the different dimension they take on under different colours.
Thumb is Aqua Splash, pointer Golden Shore, Middle Finger Mermaid Tears, ring finger Pink Paradise and little finger is Red Sea

My sum up on these are a hard one really.  I loved the idea of a whole collection devoted to flakies, we have oodles of glitters and such on the high street but not that many flakies so i give M.O credit for coming up with these.  I like them because they are very pretty and very versatile.  The negatives i find with these are the base colours.  In the bottle they look quite deceiving, i knew they were going to be used for layering butttt i didn't expect the colour to be so sheer they are almost clear (with the exception of red sea)  M.O say these can be worn alone, i kinda disagree, especially if like myself and so many other nail polish wearers my nails arn't a super pretty colour underneath.  I kind of feel although these sure are pretty in the bottles the flakies arnt unique enough to warrant owning the whole set.  Also the glitter had a tendency to stick out on the nail even after 1 coat of seche vite.

My picks of this collection is definitely red sea, aqua splash and mermaids tears.  Application on all of these were ok, the shards did tend to drag towards the end of the nail and i did have to go back in a dab a little.  Dry time was OK.

So there you have it, i hope you guys enjoyed my review xxxx

Maybelline Polka Dot Shooting Stars and Rain Forest Canopy

Hey guys.  Hope today finds you well and happy.  Hopefully my swatches will brighten your day a little.  Today I am showing you 2 out of 4 new releases to the Maybelline Polka Dot polishes.  I bought these from Boots at a snip for only £2.99 a bottle, and at the minute they are buy one get one half price....bargain!

So I am going to start with my least favourite of the 2, before I show you a blinder of a polish.  This is Rain Forest Canopy.  It is green jelly base with a hint of teal in there to.  It has cute black and white matte glitters in varying sizes.  I decided to layer this over nails inc Queen Victoria Street.  Application was no problem, the glitters dispersed nicely over the nail.  Dry time was also good.  This is one coat.

Now onto the one that captured my heart the moment I saw it...Shooting Stars, what an AWESOME polish!  It is set In a blackened navy base with the same kind of matte black and white glitters in various sizes.  What I thought was cool here was some of the white glitters take on a blue tinge to, I don't know if this is intentional by the creators of this beauty but I friggin dig it!!!  I chose to layer this over Different Dimension Homeboy.....what a combo eh?  This is one 1 coat, dry time and application was faultless!

With Shooting Stars and Rain Forest Canopy I loved the way the polishes give something different from a brand name like Maybelline.  These 2 polishes are very indie esque, making me think that the creators have had to take a look at what our beloved indie makers are creating as they are now a HUGE part of the nail market now.  Shooting stars is my absolute favourite from these 2....I say for £2.99  you need to own this one!
